Making an Account Transfer
A transfer records cash movement between two company-owned accounts in one operation.
Transfer details
Choose source and destination accounts and enter a positive amount, date, and description.
- Source and destination accounts must differ.
- Both accounts must be detail accounts for cash and cash equivalents.
Posting
The system creates a posted entry that debits the destination and credits the source equally.
- The effect appears immediately in account balances.
- The reference, currency, and description are retained with the movement.
Correction
A transfer is immutable after creation and is corrected by reversing its linked entry.
- A transfer cannot be edited after posting.
- Reversal preserves the complete audit trail.
