Using the Chart of Accounts
The chart of accounts is the structure where all financial movements and balances accumulate.
Build the structure
Create accounts in connected levels and define classification, nature, and type.
- Header accounts group; detail accounts accept postings.
- A child account must match its parent's classification.
Daily use
Search the list or tree and review an account balance before using it in entries.
- Only active detail accounts can be used.
- Adding a child to a detail account automatically promotes it to a header.
Protection and control
The system protects system accounts and accounts with activity or children from deletion.
- Frozen or inactive accounts cannot be used in new entries.
- Each account code is unique within the company.
