Processing Inter-Warehouse Transfers

A transfer separates shipping from the source and receiving at the destination, making in-transit stock visible.

Create the transfer

Choose different source and destination warehouses, then set requested items, quantities, and an optional expected date.

  • The system generates the transfer number automatically.
  • Only a draft can be edited or deleted.

Ship

The system checks availability, deducts the full requested quantity from the source, captures current unit cost, and records a transfer-out movement.

  • The sufficiency check is bypassed only when the source allows negative stock.

Receive

Enter actual received quantities or accept shipped quantities by default. The system adds received stock to the destination and records a transfer-in movement.

  • Received quantity may be lower than shipped quantity.
  • A received transfer cannot be cancelled.

Cancellation and audit

Cancelling a draft has no stock effect, while cancelling a shipped transfer automatically restores source stock. The system records who completed each stage and when.

  • A transfer cannot be cancelled more than once.
